Lobsters are invertebrates with highly fragmented body, big claws and long antenna. The thin bodies are covered with a tough exterior skeleton which protects them from predator. Lobster shells are commonly blue black when they’re alive but turn red after cooked.

The texture of lobster meat is somewhat between that of shrimp and crab. As compared to shrimp, it is not that chewy; as compare to crab, it is not as flaky. However, lobster definitely has a sweeter taste and is a bit lighter as compared to shrimp and crab.

Lobster can serve as the main source of protein in a meal. Lobster is a good source of selenium, phosphorus, vitamin B12magnesium, and a small amount of omega-3 fatty acids.
