Golden pomfret is a sea-raised fish and it’s also known as Snubnose Pompano. It is a white-fillet fish that is famous among Asians. 

Its flesh ranges from off-white to white, and has a mild and succulent taste, which serves quite well in all modes of cooking, either frying, steaming or baking. It is popular for Chinese to steam it with their own recipe.

Step by Step

  1. Slice 4 stalks of green onion and 8 slices of ginger into thin strips. 
  2. Mince 3 to 4 cloves of garlic and put it aside.
  3. Put the prepared ginger and a pinch of salt onto the fish and put some in the belly to remove the smell.
  4. Next, put the prepared minced garlic and 1 tablespoon of black beans on top of the fish.  
  5. Steam it for 12 to 15 minutes (Steaming time  depends on the size of fish).  
  6. Put the onion stalks on top of the steamed fish. 
  7. Put 2 tablespoons of cooking oil on the pan and heat it up.
  8. Finally, pour the heated oil and 2 tablespoon of soy sauce onto the fish. The dish is ready to be served.
